The Australian Cup - March 2020 (TBA)
The Orr Stakes and the St. George Stakes have been the best lead-up form races for the Australian Cup, with many winners using them as their lead-up races. Other races of interest include the MRC Autumn Classic & Futurity Stakes.
Flemington is racing headquarters in Victoria, a spacious track with sweeping turns and a long home straight. Most runners will have their chance, even when the rail is out. The 2000m start is situated on the right hand side of the course, past the turn after the winning post. There is a long straight run until the first corner, barriers are of little importance. Difficult to lead all the way given the WFA conditions in this race and the long home straight.
Check out the Melbourne Track Report with scratchings, weather conditions and track bias assessment for Flemington.
The Australian Cup - Good to know:
The Australian Cup horse race is a Group One Weight For Age event at Flemington over 2000m. A great day of racing at Australia's premier racecourse, other races on the same day include the Newmarket Hcp, VRC Sires, Kewney & Blamey Stakes.
